Let me introduce to you my Funky Friend, Larry Lion. I made him with these beautiful Island Batik foundation fabrics: Tanzanite, Branch-Blue, and Turquoise . I used a Schmetz Microtex Chrome needle and Aurifil 5005 and 2740 50 weight thread.

Funky Friends Factory has a lot of patterns from manatees, llamas, foxes, and moose, just to name a few. I hope you have been following the other IB Ambassadors and seeing their awesome stuffed animals.
The pattern was easy to follow and Funky Friends has a blog with further pictures and instructions, which I found very helpful. There were a lot of pieces for Larry Lion, so I was glad for the clear instructions.

Do I dare show I cut the chin and cheek from the wrong fabric at first and had to do a redo?

As I made Larry, I found that using lots of pins on the curves helped to keep everything smooth. I used safety eyes, which were easy to attach, and little black beads for his whiskers. His toes were made with embroidery thread and he was stuffed with polyester fill.

I enjoyed making Larry and would highly recommend Funky Friends if you want to make a stuffed toy.
I would like to thank Funky Friends Factory for supplying me with this pattern. I also want to thank Island Batik, Schmetz, and Aurifil, for supplying the materials I needed to make Larry.

What a fun lion, Gail! I really love those colors you chose! So rich and beautiful. One of my twin grandsons would love this! The other has already said he wanted a teddy bear! LOL They keep me busy, but it’s fun!
