Christmas in July

This month was such a fun challenge. Ambassadors were sent an AccuQuilt Go! Me, which is a small ultraportable AccuQuilt cutter perfect for trying out the AccuQuilt products, for quilters who travel, or have limited space. It came with two GO! dies, one for Half Square Triangles, and one for Quarter Square Triangles.

Our challenge was to make Christmas come early for a special person by making a table runner, wall hanging, or a small lap throw quilt, and then present the project and the AccuQuilt Go! Me to that special person.

I made a Table Runner using Wonderland by Kathy Engle. The colors are so rich, and with the snowflakes it had a holiday feel that you could use other times of the year as well.

Playing with the shapes

I used both dies for my project, creating half square triangles and combination blocks. The block pieces fit so well together creating 3″ finished blocks. It was fun to play with the blocks until I was satisfied with the design.

Using a design wall I added two blocks to complete the design
Packed up to deliver

The person I decided to give this to is Christine. She is my daughter’s friend who lives in Tallahassee. I knew Christine did crafts and was a young mother, but I wasn’t sure if she was a quilter. After calling my daughter to see if Christine had any interest in quilting, I knew I had found the right person to encourage in this area. She already was a quilter, and I hope the Accuquilt GO! Me will encourage her to make more quilts and enjoy the process. At this time of being home raising a child and especially during our time of staying at home to avoid a pandemic, I’m always happy to encourage quilting. It has given me many hours of fun while I stay safe at home.

And yes I wore a mask

Quilting and piecing was done using Aurifil thread, Schmetz Needles, and the fabric was given to me by Island Batik.
