Island Batik Ambassador’s It’s in the Bag Blog Hop

This month was a big step out of my box: it has been a long time since I made any bags or large project, besides a quilt, so I was very glad for the great instructions and video tutorials provided By Annie. The instructions that come with the pattern are very detailed and clear, but it is always great to see someone demonstrate what you need to do. That’s one of the reasons we take classes, isn’t it? There were nine videos for this project, and I was glad I watched each one.

I chose to make the Ruler Wrap Organizer (do I have rulers!) and was given Gatsby Fabric by Island Batik. Everything, the pattern, stabilizer, hardware, and all the notions I needed to make the large wrap was given to me by Annie for which I am very thankful. I also used Aurifil thread.

There were many pieces to keep track of, so I was very careful to copy and use Annie’s labels to keep myself straight.

Pinning could be difficult through all the layers, so I was glad to use Wonder Clips when I could. Annie’s Stiletto & Pressing tool is also a great help.

It was important to have a large space to sew this bag, keeping it rolled up also helped.

One of the great things about this bag is it can be used in several ways. You can fill it up with just rulers and supplies, and fold it up small, or you can fold it in a way that allows you to add your cutting mat or large rulers; then when you are home, you can hang it up so all your rulers are accessible.

I will not have any problem filling up this Ruler Wrap. As a Certified Studio 180 Design Instructor, I own all of Deb Tucker’s rulers. I’m very glad for that large pocket on the bottom – just right for the Tucker Trimmer III and a few of the other large tools.

  1. This is for the second week giveaway. I have participated in several BOM’s. I really love doing them. Each pattern is different and you learn new techniques.

  2. I like the way you can hang it and use it everyday, instead of just for traveling. I have enough things “stashed” somewhere that I only use once in a while.
