Love Links and Polka Dots a Good Combination

My husband is putting a hydraulic lift on my quilting machine for which I am one thankful lady. So while my machine is tied up I decided to go ahead and quilt my one and only “mini” I made.  I used Studio 180 Design’s Love Link Pattern and the Wing Clipper tool to make 1/2″ x 1″Flying Geese units.  Pretty awesome results, but now how to quilt.

I picked up Natalia Bonner’s book, Next Steps in Machine Quilting thinking I was going to do something like the “Maze” design in her book, but then I stumbled onto “Polka Dots”. Perfect. If you don’t have this book you might want to add it to your collection. There are some pretty good design ideas.

Yea, it’s quilted!

Now what about the binding?  The little colorful patches in my mini came from Stone Row Studio.  Tracy Sturmak hand dyes her fabrics, and we are often across from each other at shows which is just too much temptation for me. If you see her at a show check out her fabrics, you won’t be disappointed.   Her fabrics are beautiful.  I only bought small pieces of her fabric in several colors that I thought worked well together.  I decided to use one that I had enough of to make a faux piped binding.

Once my husband gets that lift on my Prodigy I’ll be back in business, and will quilt the larger Love Links.  Stay tuned, I’ve got a plan.
