So when do you start a new project? I have six quilts in the wings waiting to be quilted, and at least ten partially pieced quilts needing finishing. I promised myself I was going to catch up, but all it took was a poke from a student ” Are you going to teach
“Lemoyne Trails?” Of course, I love that pattern, and it’s already on my to do list. This is a Studio 180 Design quilt, designed by Pam Goggans from Sager Creek Quilts & Yarnworks. I have made several of Pam’s quilts, she is a fabulous designer and a fellow Certified Instructor I am looking forward to meeting.
So time to buy more fabric. I love picking out fabric for quilts. Putting those beautiful colors together. Don’t they look delish?
Inspiration for color comes from so many places. I was never one to be able to use a color wheel, and carefully plan my pattern of color. Even if you did that when you hit the fabric shelves the exact color is never there.
I recently taught at the Old Man River Quilt Fest In Mississippi. There were several other teachers there I had the pleasure of meeting; Debby Maddy, Natalie Bonner, Carol Jaynes and Charlotte Angotti. I have been following Charlotte on Facebook and she regularly posts beautiful pictures of “color”. I just love them. They remind me that there is color all around. Always inspiring for a new quilt …. or just a purchase of more fabric.
