This past week, I have been at Houston Quilt Festival. It was like being in a candy shop with no self restraint. Oh, the treasures I bought.

One of my favorite booths was The Quilter’s Apothecary with Jamie Wallen. I have watched Jamie’s videos and have wondered if I would use his rulers. He was super helpful, showing me what his rulers could do. Every day of the show, I had new questions that he took his time to answer. He also gave me several useful tips. Did you know, if you have a quilt with a wavy border spraying it with starch will help you quilt it without getting pleats? Jamie was a weath of useful tips. He teaches at guild shows. You might ask your quilt guild to have him come teach.
Thank you Jamie Wallen.
Studio 180 was at the Festival with Deb Tucker, Michelle Hiatt, and Sarah Furrer in the booth.
The booth was always busy while the ladies demonstrated the various Studio 180 Tools. It was hard to just get to say hello to my fellow Certified Instructors or to Deb herself. Be sure to look on the
http://www.studio180design Certified Instructor web page to find an instructor to come to your guild for a trunk show or a workshop or two. They are located all over. I will be glad to come to your guild if you live in Florida, Georgia or Alabama.
My favorite author, Marie Bostwick, was there. A Single Thread, was her first book in a series about friends that gather in a quilt shop. Her books deal with women’s issues and are well written. The stories pull you in, once you start you can’t put them down. Her latest book, The Second Sister, is a stand alone book with characters I hope she will return to. I have read all of her books, and can’t wait for her new release in March.
There were so many other quilter’s, and quilt loving people there it was hard to see them all.
Then there we the quilts. Just gorgeous by so many talented people, truly inspiring. A few of my favorites.
A new quilt is loaded on my machine, and I have my rulers out to practice what I have learned. A wise woman, Diane Gaudynski, once told me to learn to quilt just quilt your quilts. Can’t wait.

I love everything about quilting. I love the colors, the feel of the fabrics, the piecing, the quilting , and even putting on the binding! I free motion quilt using a Bernina 780, longarm quilt (free motion or ruler work), on a Prodigy , and hand quilt when I get a chance.
I have been teaching quilting since 2004, and became a Certified Studio 180 Design Instructor in 2013. In 2020 I became an Island Batik Ambassador, and an Island Batik Designer in 2021. I teach locally at Bernina Connection, in Tallahassee, and travel to guilds and shops to share my love of quilting through a trunk show or workshops, and I also vend at several Quilt Shows in the area.
